FOLK, ETHNIC, TRADITIONAL, WORLD MUSIC

This is a broad category that will welcome music including

• art music by national/local composers,
• traditional/ethnic music,
• arrangements of folk and traditional music,
• adaptations of folk/ethnic/traditional music. 
• newly composed material based on traditional melodies. musics, or texts.
  

Perform one piece, own choice repertoire: 
Vocal or instrumental
Solo, duos, small and large groups
Perform with or without sheet music
Any configuration of players/singers
Folk or traditional instruments, e.g. recorders, Chinese instruments, banjo, balalaika, ukulele, dulcimers, etc., welcomed
Traditional costume optional
Compositions by local, traditional or national composers encouraged

You will compete in age categories for Grand Prize, 1st prize with honors, 1st prize, 2nd, 3rd prizes, Honorable Mention and Merit awards:
         Young Musicians: age 7 and younger
         Junior 1: age 8 and 9
         Junior 2: ages 10 to 13 
         Senior: ages 14 to 18 
         Collegiate: age 19 to 26
         Open: 27+
         Mixed: Mixed ages
Age calculated as on July 1st.

​Sheet music upload requested and preferred, but not required
Entry fee USD40 (10 Scholarships to cover the entry fee are available, email us to apply)

Results will be emailed to entrants on August 24-26.
​Results will be listed on the winners page on our website by August 28.
