INFORMAL MUSIC MAKERS

This is a broad category welcoming classical musicians and creative musicians.

• Arrangements (your own arrangement or published) of classical pieces
• performing covers of popular pieces
• improvising
• ​adaptations of popular/jazz/classical/movie music
• method books and educational material adaptations
• lead sheet performances
• playing by ear
• mash-ups (combining one or more matching pieces in a creative and seamless way)
• student/teacher duet

You will compete in age categories for Grand Prize, 1st prize with honors, 1st prize, 2nd, 3rd prizes, Honorable Mention and Merit awards:
         Young Musicians: age 7 and younger
         Junior 1: age 8 and 9
         Junior 2: ages 10 to 13 
         Senior: ages 14 to 18 
         Collegiate: age 19 to 26
         Open: 27+
         Mixed: mixed age groups 
Your age is calculated as on January 1st.
​Hobbyists, self-taught, improvisers, creative players, and amateurs welcome.

All instruments and voice
Free repertoire, perform ONE piece
No time limit, but judges reserve the right to evaluate only the first 10 minutes of a performance.
YouTube video performance required
Sheet music pdf upload requested but not required
